I LOVE the colors of fall.  Yesterday was absolutely GORGEOUS!  I took my daughter and niece out for a photo shoot.  I promised to do this for them back in August.  We just got around to it.  I’m so glad it worked out yesterday.  I have plenty more to share, but just one for now.  This is my niece.

They are friends of ours.  It is such a pleasure for me to hang with friends and capture them as a family.  Their kids are so lovey!  I just adored capturing their brother/sister relationship.

The seated dance . . .

She is donating her long, beautiful hair.  Planned to get it cut after this session.  What a sweetie!

Feel the love . . .

Thanks T fam!!  It was SO good to see you again.

The baby is due the beginning of January.  If you are that person please email me again!  I have searched and searched and cannot find the email in my gmail.  Thank you!

What is a post without a pic?  This is my daughter.  She wrote this on our driveway.  What a sweetie!

Wow!  We had a fabulous vacation in the Outer Banks of North Carolina!  Hurricane/Tropical Storm Hanna chased us out of there one day early, but every other day was absolutely beautiful!  It is so fun to spend time with family having fun and hangin’ at the beach.  I have loads of pics.

Traveling with my husband is always an adventure.  I mentioned earlier that we drive a 1993 Toyota Previa mini van (we are basically waiting for it to die before we get something else).  Anyway, my hubby thinks this is like a new car or something.  He wanted to take our bikes along so he had a hitch put on the van (the van has about 185,000 miles on it . . . but whatever).  So we go all the way to OBX with no problems, ride our bikes, la la la.  As we’re driving home we noticed people were staying plenty far away from us . . . ummm, yeah, big wake up call.  We checked the bike rack and realized we were literally losing our entire bumper!!  And I’m not talking about the “pretty part” of the bumper . . . I’m talking the totally rusted underneath, hold the pretty bumper onto the van, bumper.  Apparently we lost a couple bolts on the hitch.  Yikes!!!  Okay, so that is totally unsafe.  Praise God we didn’t hurt anyone around us.  So we spent the night in West Virginia and by God’s grace we found this little mom and pop auto shop called Lo Do in Cabin Creek, West Virginia.  The owner welded the hitch onto the bottom of the van and we were back on the road.   THANK YOU LO DO!!!!!

Someone please tell my husband that we drive an OLD van, not a new SUV!!!!

Oh yes, I need a Mac because windows Vista on my computer has now crashed TWO times since the beginning of 2008.  That is such a pain.  No pictures were lost, but it takes a lot of time to wipe off the computer and reload everything.  I’m still not done.  Thanks to my hubby for getting the computer going again.   Next time I’m buying a Mac!!

Okay, okay . . . this is my wordiest post ever.  On to the pics!

We climbed a HUGE sand dune at Jockey Ridge State Park.  These next few were taken there.

Same pic as above, just processed differently.  I love the blue sky, but I also love the tones in this one.

This is my husband and son playing football on a “real” football field by the light of the moon.

I’m still catching up from vacation!  If you’re waiting on an email or photo order I will contact you soon.

Yep, it’s true . . . this little guy is destined to be an Ohio State fan.  Check out the back of his little OSU outfit . . . adorable!  I love being around babies, and little E was no exception.  He put up with me the entire photo session and did great!  He’s sooo sweet.  His mom says his hair is like corn silk.  I totally agree!  He has beautiful, soft blonde hair.  So precious.

It was so good to see you again Janice and Jason!  (Their maternity session can be found here.)

I love this series on black.  Got the hand knitted diaper cover from CloseKnitFriends

She has a shop on Etsy.  The yarn color for mine is oatmeal.

This isn’t just any family . . . this is my cousin’s family.  I knew since the day they booked me I was going to love this session.  We started out on a farm in Plain City (thanks Fred and Mary!) and then headed into town to finish up.  I know most people want family pictures where everyone is looking and has a beautiful smile on their face (I like those too and try my best to capture that), but my FAVORITE images are the ones where the family has a real connection . . . they are just being themselves . . . loving each other . . . they aren’t necessarily aware of the camera . . . they are just having fun and enjoying one another.  Those, to me, are the priceless images I try hard to capture at every family session.  And that is why families are my favorite to photograph.  That is why I loved this session.

I love the reaction in this one . . .

Here . . . the youngest is giving her opinion on where everyone should stand.  I love the hand on the hip and the expressions of everyone listening to her . . . cracks me up!

I LOVE the connection here between Mom and Dad . . . they do this a lot . . . look at each other and smile.  They have always had something special.

Don’t let the tough guy look fool you . . . this kid is an incredible, genuine young man.  But it never hurts to look cool.  🙂

My cousin does some electrical work . . . so I thought this background was appropriate.

I have oodles more . . . these are just a few of my faves.

Took these on Sunday at the park.  I usually like colorful, happy, bright childhood pictures but these seemed to call for a more moody, emotional process.  Usually when I have an emotional connection to a picture I convert it to b+w or some less colorful version.  Right now I’m all emotional about this girl.  She is 3 now.  Fully potty trained (it took like 2 days . . . my other 2 pooped in their pants for 4 MONTHS EACH).  What a blessing she is.  She loves to swing and she has gum in her mouth any chance she gets . . . that’s what is on her lip.  I’m normally pretty anal about my pictures being sharp, but I love the movement in the second.  I don’t think anything in that picture is in focus, except maybe one hair.  But I love it.  I love this stage she is in.  I’m trying to capture and appreciate it because I know it will soon be gone.

On another note . . . my computer is being sent away to get fixed (no not that kind of fixed . . . although I wish it would have a baby computer that works better).  I will be without photoshop for “about a week”.  My kids are happy.

This is a good friend of mine and her family.  She lives in Atlanta and was up here for a visit so we got together at the Columbus Zoo.  Her son is adorable.  This is the first time I had the opportunity to meet him and his dad.  It was so good to catch up while having fun at the zoo.  Thanks J!

How cute is this???  Giving his Momma a wink.

I love silhouettes.

Love this connection between dad and babe.

This family was so great to photograph.  Mom and Dad were so into each other . . . always smiling when they looked at each other.  It was wonderful . . . almost like I wasn’t even there.  It is such a privilege for me to capture the connection between couples and family members.  And who could resist their little guy?  So adorable!  I just love his peach fuzz haircut.

I have lots more I love from this session, but I have to stop here because it almost 2:30am.  I promised my oldest daughter I would not, under any circumstances, get on the computer tomorrow during her waking hours.  So here I am staying up until the wee hours of the morning to finish my list of things to do on the computer.

And before I go to bed I need to list 6 quirky things about myself.  I’ve been tagged by 2 of my good photography friends, Jackie and Megan.  Both of these ladies are extremely talented photographers.  Jackie is in Sydney, Australia and Megan is in Florida.

The Rules

Link the person who tagged you

– Mention the rules on your blog

– Tell about 6 quirks of yours

– Tag 6 fellow bloggers by linking them

– Leave a comment on each of the tagged bloggers blogs letting them know they have been tagged.

1. We drink green smoothies nearly everyday for breakfast.  What makes them green?  Spinach!  Yes, my kids drink them.  They aren’t allowed to have anything else until they do.  We use raw spinach, not the slimy frozen stuff.  I make a big batch every morning . . . water, juice, lots of spinach, bananas, agave nectar (kind of like honey) and frozen strawberries.  Yum!

I could do 6 quirks about food alone, but I’ll save that for another time.  🙂

2.  We pay cash for our cars.  Everyone around us drives nicer vehicles than we do, but once you swallow your pride it feels really good to not have car payments.  Right now we drive a 1993 Toyota Previa mini van and a 1995 Honda Civic.

3.  I play Rock, Paper, Scissors nearly everynight with my kids when I put them to bed.  First one to take 3 rounds wins!  The reason we play is to determine how many hand claps we will do (you know . . . See, See My Playmate . . . Big Mac Filet O’ Fish . . . that kind of thing).  I always want one, they always want two.

4.  My hair . . . I’ve always had a love hate relationship with my black curly hair.  Not because it is black, but because it is curly.  Seriously . . . it’s curly.  God gave it to me so I’m learning to make the most of it.  People often say to me, “you remind me of someone . . . . ”  And I respond, “it’s the hair.”  If you know someone else that has black curly hair I automatically remind you of them.

5.  I eat granola bars a lot.  I either need to learn how to make them, or cut back because they get expensive.  Okay that one was about food, but it wasn’t weird like some of the other food quirks I could tell you.

6.  I re-paint a room in our house about every 6 months.  I know, I have a problem.  I have to say though, I think I have finally found the perfect color for the living room . . . it is a light blue/aqua color.  I just painted it so I should be happy for awhile.  The kitchen on the other hand . . .

So now I am going to break the last two rules.  Remember it is now nearly 3 am and I need to go to bed.  No time to tag 6 other bloggers.

If you’ve made it this far I am seriously impressed with your dedication to reading my blog.  Thanks!

This little guy is 15 months old.  I just love this age!  He’s happy and downright adorable.

And who could resist this face?

I had a great time getting to know your family!  Thanks for letting me hang with you on a Friday night.
